ELA challenges of generation Z
This assignment was actually a timed writing essay that we did for class. It was a five paragraph essay and we got to choose from to prompt. I chose the prompt “ what is the greatest challenge facing your generation” and so that is exactly what I did I wanted to inform and educate people on the different obstacles and challenges my generation faces as a whole.
A short summary of my essay titled “ The challenges of generation Z” and in the essay I talked about a number of things/ challenges that my generation is facing. Such as social media and entertainment And how it’s not all good and it’s one of the biggest culprits to mental health issues in teens today. I also talk about how we can overcome these challenges. And I discuss how the challenges we face go much deeper than just school and getting homework.
21st Century skills
civic literacy and engagement
The reason I decided to put my essay with this 21st Century skill, it’s because the definition of the skill is - “ Students will demonstrate an understanding of and the ability to analyze and participate in government and in community, both locally and globally, in order to shape the circumstances that impact their daily lives and the lives of others.” I thought this fit perfectly because of the last point brought up “ to shape the circumstances that impact their daily lives and the lives of others” and that is exactly what I wanted to do with that essay!
Essay sample
"Social media has consumed and is taking control of not only teenagers but adults as well. We see these platforms of celebrities and influencers in their everyday “perfect life” and that is all we get to see. We do not see the behind the scenes of the stress and the chaos of a normal life, they let us see what they want us to see and that’s definitely not the whole picture. So as far as we know they have the perfect body perfect life perfect friends. And that ruins a person's perception of life and what it should be, and as a result kids, teens, and adults get disappointed hat they do not have that so-called “perfect life”. Most importantly it’s fine that you do not have the same lifestyle as that person on Instagram they probably wish they had that lifestyle as well. No life is perfect and that’s perfectly normal."
